DAVEY IS A LEARNING AND TEACHING ORGANIZATION
At Davey, training is part of the job. We have a long tradition of both classroom and on-the-job training, since the beginning of our company. That tradition of expertise and training is more than just part of our past; it is how we define ourselves as a company. Our programs are constantly evolving to accommodate new challenges and support a culture of learning that ensures our employees are highly skilled and able to diagnose and treat every property owner’s needs.
We do this because Davey is a learning and teaching organization committed to providing solutions. This culture is perhaps best demonstrated during the Davey Institute of Tree Sciences (D.I.T.S.), which is Davey’s flagship training program in biological sciences, safety, tree, and plant care and management techniques. D.I.T.S. is spotlighted in the video above and it’s just one example of how we significantly invest in training our teams to ensure the best techniques are used consistently at every job site, every time.
TRAINING FOR THE FUTURE
In September of 2019, 36 Davey employees spent two days at the Davey Institute learning new techniques for nurturing a safety culture among their fellow crew members as part of the Certified Treecare Safety Professional workshop.
WOMEN ACCEPTING THE CHALLENGE!
In a male-dominated industry, female employees of the Davey Resource Group (DRG) united at an event created by women climbers for women climbers. They learned about climbing equipment and techniques at the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture’s three-day workshop. Jenn Mahley, senior consulting utility forester, DRG; Jillian Keller, consulting utility forester, DRG and Jessika Mitchell, associate consultant, DRG, comprised nearly 20 percent of the event’s attendees. They learned climbing and safety skills- everything from planning a route and inspecting gear to tying knots and throwing lines.
