Position Overview

National Grid is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clerical Contractor to support the Transmission Forestry Team. This role will provide essential administrative support to foresters by assisting in budget management, maintaining project trackers and ensuring accurate and timely processing of forestry-related documentation. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of proficiency in data management, critical analysis, and project coordination.

Wage Range: $28-$36 per hour

Job Duties

What You’ll Do: 

  • Budget Management Support: Assist foresters in maintaining and tracking the weekly budget for forestry-related projects, ensuring financial accuracy and timely updates.
  • Capital Tracker Maintenance: Regularly update and manage a capital tracker, ensuring all project data is current, accurate, and properly documented for reporting purposes.
  • Job Tracking and System Updates: Pull relevant job data from STORMS and field communication from the team and update internal project trackers. Ensure that foresters are provided with up-to-date information regarding ongoing projects.
  • Job Jacket Creation: Generate job jackets for assigned projects, ensuring that all required environmental permits and associated documentation are included and up to date.
  • Critical Review and Issue Identification: Thoroughly review job comments and project details to identify and highlight potential issues or discrepancies. Provide feedback to foresters for necessary corrections or further action.
  • Analyze data entry in GIS based vegetation management program. Adjust polygons and information on desktop GIS program.
  • Develop and maintain suite of complex spreadsheets for compliance tracking.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking: 

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Experience in administrative support, preferably within the utility or Vegetation Management sector.
  • Expertise in using Excel, project management systems and tools, with experience in data entry and tracking (STORMS system experience is preferred but not required).
  • Ability to critically assess project data, identify discrepancies, and communicate issues clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach to managing tasks and responsibilities.
