Position Overview

We are currently looking to add a dynamic Senior GIS Developer to our passionate team of Utility Asset Management Implementation team! 
Under the general direction of the GIS Implementation Manager, the Senior GIS Programmer will develop, test, implement, document, and support a variety of scripts, packages, interfaces, models, and code-base repositories to automate GIS and asset management solutions. In general, the responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to, the development, implementation, and administration of custom analytical toolsets, stored procedures, triggers, QA/QC processes, and ETL workflows to integrate data captured by mobile apps and collection devices with enterprise database platforms and utility asset management applications. In addition, this position will include providing software development life cycle (SDLC) recommendations, assisting with the development of application programming interfaces (APIs), developing and configuring tools for data monitoring, as well as performing software and database maintenance as requested.

Job Duties

    •    Design, implement, and test scripts and analytical tools to support project requirements, business intelligence, and client needs.
    •    Design, implement, and test ETL workflows to and from enterprise database platforms and industry-standard asset management data models, as needed to meet project requirements.
    •    Develop, implement, install, configure, and test custom hardware and software integrations needed to support assigned internal and external projects.
    •    Development of scripts used to automate processes and improve efficiency using Arcade, Python, SQL, PHP, JSON, and other languages as needed.
    •    Implement and maintain HVR schedules and tasks for data transformation. 
    •    Conduct training and knowledge transfer of developed solutions and processes to office and field staff as well as provide technical support as needed.
    •    Provide leadership and technical guidance to Davey GIS and IT professionals as well as clients and assist team members in developing technical skill sets and capabilities.
    •    Attending internal and external meetings as requested.
    •    Perform regular evaluations of scripted processes and analytical tools to determine performance improvement strategies.
    •    Conduct a variety of analyses related to the development and implementation of assigned project tasks, including production tracking, identification of alternate solutions, and base code modification recommendations, with the presentation of reports/findings to internal & external parties as necessary.
    •    Assists GIS Implementation Manager as needed with various tasks related to GIS and related technologies, staff development, client relations, proposal writing, scope determination, scheduling, and project requirements.
 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
    •    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in GIS, geography, planning, civil engineering, computer science, or a related field.
    •    Preferred more than five years of programming experience in the design, implementation, and administration scripts, tools, and interfaces for use with the ESRI product line including ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcSDE, and ArcGIS Desktop/Pro.
    •    Preferred three years of experience in the development, implementation and administration of relational database tools and services with a focus on SQL Server.
    •    Preferred experience with configuring and managing cloud solutions.
    •    Prior experience working on a remote team is preferred.
