Position Overview

POSITION LOCATION: North Carolina 

Project Length: 6-9 months,travel costs covered and per diem provided

*This is an on-call position. When on project you can expect to go back home at least once per month*

The Davey Resource Group is looking to hire 2 on-call Natural Resources Technicians to support our disaster restoration efforts in North Carolina. This is an on-call position with an estimated project length of 6-9 months. Travel costs will be covered and per diem awarded. When on project you can expect to go back home at least once per month. 

What you'll do:

• Using GIS to collect specific plot data. 

• Hike 15 miles over rugged terrain, on and off trail.

• Work independently and in small groups. 

• Use resources such as botanical keys and/or plant association guides to identify trees, seeds, and cones. 

• Update digital maps and spreadsheets on a regular basis. 

• Edit and clean data as needed.

What you'll need:

• Authorization to work in the U.S.

• Hold a current U.S. drivers license with a clean driving record. 

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

• Ability to identify tree species and plant communities in the eastern United States.

• Ability to hike through rough, uneven forested terrain for long periods of time. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

• Enjoy working with a high level of autonomy and flexibility. 

• Attention to detail and problem solving with little to no supervision.
