The Davey Resource Group is looking to hire 1-8 full-time Silviculturist Leads, and 1 Silviculturist to support our disaster restoration efforts in North Carolina. This is an on-call position with an estimated project length of 6-9 months. Travel costs will be covered and per diem awarded. When on a project you can expect to go back home at least once per month.
What you'll do:

Provide scientific expertise on forest establishment, growth, productivity, sustainability, and wildlife management.

Develop and implement silvicultural strategies that meet the goals of our client.

Collaborate with others from DRG or other companies and our client to ensure goals are met.

Successfully contribute to all aspects of vegetation management planning and analysis.

Update digital maps and spreadsheet on a regular basis.

Edit and clean data as needed.

Use GIS to collect specific plot data.

Hike 15 miles over rugged terrain, on and off trail.

Commit to safely conduct outdoor work in a variety of conditions.
What you'll need:
Minimum requirements:
-
Love of the outdoors and the ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather.

Hold a current U.S. drivers license with a clean driving record.

Proficient in the Google Suite - Sheets, Docs, Gmail, Calendar etc.

Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Effective project management skills including planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of forestry related projects.

Ability to identify tree species and plant communities in the eastern United States.
Lead requirements:
-
Hold a Bachelors of Science in Forestry with an emphasis in forest management, wildlife management or a closely related field.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic background in silviculture, including coursework and/or practical experience in forest regeneration, stand dynamics, forest health and applied silvicultural systems.
