Environmental Auditor

Position Overview

This position takes place in Southwestern Virginia. 

We are currently looking to add a dynamic Environmental Auditor to our passionate team of environmental professionals.  

Job Duties

  • Attend pre-construction meetings and provide on-site monitoring of wetland/stream crossings during construction to document conditions. All candidates will be trained in advance of starting.

  • We need 15 staff on-site at any given time and want enough people trained to be able to cycle people in and out a couple weeks at a time.

  • Project duration will last 6 months, February through July. Subject to how fast the project is completed.

  • 6 days a week, 10+ hour days anticipated - overtime required

  • ISA Certified Arborist required. ISA TRAQ and Utility Specialist Preferred

  • Ideal candidate would be field staff with some familiarity reading construction plans. We are in need competent professionals, that are willing to learn, excited to try something new, are good communicators, and team players.

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:

 An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Love of the outdoors and the ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather.

  • Ability to read and follow GIS data and maps; ability to work independently.

  • Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority.

  • Demonstrated expertise in problem solving, meeting deadlines, and technical innovation.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Availability and desire to travel throughout the utility service area.

  • Valid Driver’s License with clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle.

  • Ability to identify local tree species & growth rates.

  • Organizational skills; working knowledge of computers and programs, file creation, manipulation, and sharing.

  • Preferred: Two or Four-year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or related discipline.

  • Preferred: Relevant pesticide and/or Herbicide licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

  • Required: ISA Certified Arborist®

  • Preferred: ISA Utility Specialist®, Registered Professional Forester (RPF), Utility Right-of-Way Vegetation experience.
