Position Overview
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, is a seeking a mid-level Ecosystem Specialist to join our team in Gainesville, Virginia.
Primary Duties
• Construction inspection of wetland and stream restoration projects
• Arborist construction monitoring
• Stormwater facility inspections and maintenance
• General maintenance and monitoring of wetland and stream mitigation sites
• Invasive species control
• Groundwater well data collection and analysis
• LID/LEED building and landscape maintenance
• Read and follow maps; navigate (in vehicle and on foot) through a variety of terrains
• Properly and safely drive, operate and maintain vehicle in a variety of terrains and surfaces (including ATVs and boats)
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelors degree in Environmental Science or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of wetland and stream restoration experience
• Knowledge of wetland ecology and plant identification
• Able to lift 50lbs over head
• Possess valid Driver’s License
• Willingness to regularly travel regionally to support projects outside the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
• Ability to work safely and independently in the outdoors under a wide range of conditions and weather types
• Ability to work independently and with a team
Preferred:
• Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP)
• ISA Certified Arborist
• Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ)
• Professional Wetland Scientist or WPIT
• DEQ Stormwater Inspector
• Rosgen Training
• Equipment operation (Bobcat, Excavator, Marooka, etc.)
• ATV and Boater Safety
• Truck and trailer operation
• Knowledge of laser level operation
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• Commercial Pesticide License
