Position Overview

Wetland Studies and Solutions Inc., a Davey company is seeking an Ecosystem Restoration Crew Lead to join our rapidly expanding invasive species management team in Gainesville, Virginia. 

Job Duties

Primary Duties: 

  • Invasive plant control (chemically, mechanically, and biologically) 
  • Lead a crew of staff in conducting invasive plant control 
  • Participation in Marketing and Outreach to expand invasive management program 
  • Attend conferences and presentations. 
  • Prepare project status reports for clients 
  • Pesticide Inventory and Safe Keeping  
  • Pesticide Use Logging and Reporting  
  • Integrated Pest Management Plan preparation and implementation  
  • Certification Tracking and Record Keeping 
  • Stormwater Facility Maintenance 
  • LID/LEED building and landscape maintenance 
  • Groundwater Well Data Collection and Analysis 
  • Assist preparation of proposals including initial site visit, scoping and drafting 
  • Read and follow maps; navigate (in vehicle and on foot) through a variety of terrains 
  • Properly and safely drive, operate and maintain vehicle in a variety of terrains and conditions (including ATVs and boats) 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field 
  • Two to three years of experience in the invasive species field with some experience leading field crews 
  • VA Commercial Pesticide License in category 5A Aquatic, 6 Right of way and/or 2 Forest 
  • Knowledge of plant identification and Mid Atlantic ecology  
  • Ability to lead a field crew and work independently  
  • Able to lift 25lbs over head 
  • Possess valid Driver’s License 
  • Truck and trailer operation 
  • Comfortable with written and verbal client interaction and communication 
  • Willingness to travel regionally to support projects outside the Washington D.C. metropolitan area 
  • Ability to work safely outdoors under a wide range of conditions and weather types 

Preferred: 

  • ISA Certified Arborist 
  • DEQ Stormwater Inspector Certification 
  • Professional Wetland Scientist or WPIT 
  • Good organizational and time management skills
