Position Overview

The Environmental Science Energy Services Travel Team at Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. is seeking an entry-level environmental scientist with up to three years of experience. This is a year-round field position requiring extensive travel along the east coast and occasional travel throughout the U.S.

Job Duties

• Performing wetland delineations
• Utility Rights-of-Way inventory assessments
• Vegetation and habitat assessments
• Report preparation
• Assist with endangered and threatened species (ETS) surveys
• Assess potential impacts to ETS
• Coordinating with federal and state resource agencies

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of/experience in one or more of the following fields desired:
• Plant identification (including trees/shrubs)
• Soil profiling
• Integrated Vegetation Management; with focus in the energy/utility sectors

Also required:
• General natural history knowledge/interest
• Willingness to travel out of state/region for extended periods
• BA/BS in biology, forestry, ecology or closely related discipline
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Superior oral and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
• Willingness to work with other departments within WSSI/DRG 

Preferred:
• Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors
• Working knowledge of CAD, ArcGIS and field GPS data collection use is preferred.
• Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) or Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT)
• ISA Certified Arborist
