Position Overview

Davey Resource Group, Inc. is actively seeking a self-motivated, organized, and dedicated individual to join our team as a Senior Environmental Scientist with a focus on applied coastal and wetland science.  The selected candidate is expected to be located in Florida and possess a working knowledge of federal and state water resource and water quality regulations (e.g. Section 404 Clean Water Act Permitting, Section 401 Water Quality Certifications, and Florida Water Management District ERP Permitting). Proximity to the Jacksonville, FL area is preferable with the ability to market services and perform work throughout Florida and eastern Georgia

Job Duties

Primary work duties of this position will include natural resource assessments, Section 404 Clean Water Act permitting (and related 401 Water Quality and Florida Water Management District ERP permitting), as well as environmental monitoring and reporting. The selected candidate will assume responsibilities for managing projects that may involve teams from across our South Region operations.  In addition, the selected candidate will assist in the pursuit of new work opportunities and help grow and manage our Florida-based team.  

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:  

  • *MUST* have prior experience in wetland delineation, Section 404/401 permitting, and Coastal Zone Management Act permitting is preferred (particularly with demonstrated experience in Florida).
  • Respondents should have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Sciences or a related field (a Masters Degree in a related science field is preferred).   
  • Additional coursework in wetland science, fisheries, or ecology is desired.
  • 10 years or more of experience in environmental consulting is preferred.
  • Candidates should possess skills in using office software (Microsoft Word/Excel/Google Docs etc.), multi-tasking and working cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Candidates should also be comfortable with working outside (primarily woods) and in difficult (e.g. hot or remote) field conditions and be willing to travel.
  • Experience with GPS equipment and ArcGIS Pro is preferred.
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record are required.
