Position Overview

Summary: The Benefits Administration Specialist is responsible for administering benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long–term disability plans, processing and related functions.

The Benefits Administration Specialist is a non-exempt, full-time position.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Employee Development & Advancement: Entry Level

Job Duties

  • Monitor and approve enrollments within our HRIS system.
  • Send and receive electronic files with our various carriers.
  • Run reports as needed within our HRIS system.
  • Process life claims for deceased employees
  • Respond to verbal and written inquiries from employees.
  • Research claim information to ensure accuracy with insurance companies.
  • Work as a liaison between our carriers and our employees when needed.
  • Assist with testing of HRIS system upgrades and revision of training materials in a timely manner.
  • Participate in meetings with various departments within and outside of HR regarding current and future policies and programs.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor within the Benefits realm.
  • Periodic audits of our HRIS system, dependent eligibility, and enrollment
  • Provide expert guidance and education to managers around FMLA and other various leave laws

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Time management; Ability to work independently and in a group; Interpersonal and customer service; Attention to detail; Analytical and problem-solving; Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to three years of diverse personnel and benefits recordkeeping or related experience
