Position Overview
The Business Applications group at the Davey Tree Expert Company works as a team to focus on improving internal processes, making it easier to do business with Davey, and supports internal and external clients with technology and expertise in managing various projects. While we work primarily with SAP, we also develop mobile applications, integrate best-of-breed applications with SAP, provide insight through analytics, and support client-facing transactional systems.
The SAP DevSecOps Engineer (DSO Engineer) works closely with the rest of the Business Applications group to streamline and automate the entire SAP Delivery Toolchain (JIRA, RevTrac, Panaya, and other tools). Integrating these tools allows the team to avoid cumbersome administration as their code and configuration moves through our N+1 SAP environment. This position works with external software vendors to integrate their tools into our toolchain via APIs and other methods. This position works closely with the Release and QA Manager to identify and execute opportunities for integration, automation, and “leaning” the SDLC.
Job Duties
- Develop tools to help monitor the health of the SAP environment and alert constituent parties as issues occur
- Develop global tools, such as central logging mechanisms, to be used by SAP Developers that provide a central location for various activities
- Perform data analysis to improve efficiency of the overall SDLC
- Manage and improve container orchestration and deployment strategies
- Ensure and develop tools for monitoring security, privacy, and integrity of data and other resources
- Develop, provision, and maintain fully automated CI/CD pipelines for building and deploying new and existing services and applications, providing tools to make development workflows more agile
- Identify areas for process automation and develop automated scripts and tools for regular operational activities
- Enable software developers, preparing their services and applications for production by focusing on reliability, resiliency, scalability, observability, and security
- Define the processes and procedures necessary to operate and monitor the technical environments
- Work with Release Management to ensure modules are production-ready
- Troubleshoot production incidents that often span across multiple teams, services, and codebases
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support of internal tools to improve system health and reliability
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Software Engineering or equivalent required
- 3 years of experience with Cloud PaaS development required, Google Cloud Platform and/or Azure Preferred
- Experience with SAP Basis preferred
- Experience with SAP Security preferred
- Experience with tools/technologies in a DevOps Environment (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, Confluence, Docker) required
- Experience with Cloud Infrastructure, Development, and Administration required
- Experience with Infrastructure As Code SW tools and Resource Management in Cloud Computing Services required
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes Container Strategies and Orchestration preferred
- Experience working with repository/artifact management and Build Integration Support preferred
- Proactive and assertive in driving solutions/solving issues required
- Experience supporting an SAP BTP environment including custom ABAP development and third-party and custom integrations with SAP solutions preferred
- Experience integrating both on-premises and software-as-a-service (SaaS) commercial solutions with enterprise identity and directory services, i.e., Active Directory, SAML required
