Position Overview
The Davey Tree Expert Company is the North American leader in residential tree care, utility line clearance, commercial landscape services, and urban forestry / natural resource consulting with operations throughout the US and Canada.
Davey is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Environmental Programs Specialist. This strategic position is based within the Davey Institute, which is responsible for research and development, environmental programs, technical support, and education and training for all North American operations.
Job Duties
The Environmental Programs Specialist is responsible for environmental education and training, ensuring Davey’s operations follow all federal and state rules and regulations, and assisting operations with maintaining compliance. Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Develop and update existing policies and programs to minimize risk and enable compliant business practices.
- Track local, state, and federal environmental regulations and enforcement activities to advise management of requirements related to corporate goals and objectives.
- Perform periodic inspections and audits of Environmental Programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Administer Environmental Programs training programs including HazCom/HazMat, Respiratory Protection, SWPP, and Emergency Response.
- Coordinate preparation and filing of environmentally related permits, licenses, certifications, and reports to meet regulatory deadlines.
- Assist field locations with proper management of hazardous materials and waste.
Qualifications
- Two to four-year degree in a science discipline or equivalent experience. Degree in Environmental Management or Policy preferred.
- An understanding of environmental law and policy.
- Exceptional organization skills.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Experience working with cross functional teams.
- Responsive with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to problem solve and think creatively.
- Willingness to travel.
- Must be able to commute to Kent, Ohio.
