Position Overview

The Identity and Access Management (IAM) Administrator is responsible for administering and supporting the Identity and Access Management (IAM) program and its supporting systems, to ensure the prompt and accurate provisioning and deprovisioning of access. This position collaborates extensively with partners both inside and outside of IT to support the success of the IAM program.

Job Duties

  • Support the overall IAM strategy in collaboration with the IT operations & security teams.
  • Maintain the organization's menu of system resources & policy-based access controls so employees can be granted the right access at the right time.
  • Support audit efforts by developing & maintaining IAM logging and reporting capabilities, and producing audit evidence when requested.
  • Facilitate periodic access recertification processes.
  • Help to develop, implement, & maintain automation scripts and integrations.
  • Establish relationships with business units to learn their access requirements & assist in configuring the IAM system to support them.
  • Keep the IAM in sync with on-going organizational changes including acquisitions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and make recommendations for improving IAM processes & preventing end user access issues.
  • Continually evaluate, recommend, & implement changes to standard operating procedures & user experience to enhance identity & access management.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends & provide recommendations that can make the business more secure, efficient, & successful.
  • Partner with IT and line of business application teams to integrate new tools  systems as they are brought into the environment and keep them up to date.
  • Identify opportunities to extend or enhance IAM into existing systems.
  • Serve as an escalation point for emergency access removals.
  • Support the IT Service Desk by developing dashboards and documentation, & serving as an escalation point for questions, issues, & feature requests.


  • Understanding of IAM concepts such as authentication, authorization, multi-factor authentication, federation, and identity lifecycle management.
  • Proficient with SQL databases, REST API, and scripting or programming languages.
  • Prior work experience with identity and access management solutions.
  • On-prem and cloud enterprise directory administration.
  • Business process analysis and documentation skills.

Additional Information

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 4 years equivalent work experience.
  • Working technical knowledge of objects in Active Directory; and Directory Services in general, of users, groups, policies, etc. Support experience with Google G-Suite and Office 365.  
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).  
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required. ● Ability to present ideas and solutions in both technical and non-technical language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions

  • On-call availability for a period of 1 week about every 6 weeks.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time. ● Extended periods of phone use.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • Periodic travel to remote sites across North America
