Position Overview
The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for interpreting regulations and understanding occupational safety and industrial hygiene practices to implement effective safety measures, conduct assessments, collect data, develop strategies to mitigate workplace hazards, and ensure adherence to safety standards. The Industrial Hygienist will develop training materials and assist with safety policy review, employee education and training, and the evaluation of work practice controls. Works under general supervision. Reports to the Health and Safety Manager.
The Industrial Hygienist is an exempt, full-time employee position.

Job Duties
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions*):
- Evaluate new and existing tasks and processes for potential hazards, recommending samplings and assessments where necessary.*
- Conduct periodic noise samplings to establish representative baselines for all operational groups.*
- Perform work site evaluations using appropriately selected monitoring and sampling devices.*
- Select appropriate sampling tools and equipment based on job requirements.*
- Determine appropriate personal protective equipment and work practices based on collected data to protect workers from task hazards.*
- Coordinate activities to ensure project deadlines are met and goals meet specifications and requirements.*
- Stay updated on relevant legislation and regulations, ensuring alignment of operations with legal requirements.
- Perform other safety-related and departmental duties as assigned, including regulatory interpretation, policy revision, employee training development, and metric reporting.
- Develop training, communication, and policy documents to support regulatory and company requirements.
- Complete department assignments timely and accurately.*
- Demonstrate appropriate response in emergency situations.
- Report timely and accurately to supervisor.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Required: Undergraduate or master’s degree in occupational safety, safety engineering, industrial hygiene, or related field is required.
- Required: A minimum of four years of relevant experience in safety and industrial hygiene.
- Required: Obtain and maintain required licenses and certifications. Applicant must hold a Certified Industrial Hygienist credential.
- Required: Proficient in MS Office and other computer or software programs necessary to complete job duties.
- Required: Experience operating technical sampling equipment.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish is beneficial.
Math Ability: Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and identify and resolve abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Requirements:

Write, type, and use specialty equipment.
Bend, reach, hold, grasp, sort, and organize.

- Must be willing to travel domestically up to 25% of the time.
