Position Overview
The Motor Carrier Safety Specialist guides and monitors territory activities pertaining to safety and loss prevention. This position analyzes safe work practices, safety education, and loss trend measurements against company standards by performing the duties listed below.
Job Duties
The Motor Carrier Safety Specialist position includes the following duties, functions, and responsibilities:
- Assist field management with the implementation of new and existing safety programs to meet company requirements and government regulations
- Schedule and direct driver safety education sessions
- Conduct “train the trainer” safety education sessions
- Visit field crews for driver training, driver observation, equipment inspection and verification of program compliance
- Analyze district and regional Motor Carrier Safety program effectiveness
- Communicate Motor Carrier Safety program needs with management
- Prepare evaluations and provide comprehensive summary reports and recommendations to operations and safety management
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and work rules
- React appropriately in emergency situations
- Perform all duties as required
- Report timely and accurately to supervisor
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Additional Information
An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Driver’s license required. Commercial driver’s license preferred and may be required, depending on job requirements
- Three years of leadership responsibility in supervisory or foremanship capacity
- Qualified arborist field experience, preferably to include qualified utility line clearance arborist experience
- Large and small vehicle mechanical understanding, to include arborist equipment
- Solid working knowledge of DOT - FMCSA – Motor Carrier Safety Policy, and Defensive Driving
- Knowledge of tree and landscape safety standards and practices
