Position Overview

The Davey Resource Group is looking to add temporary laborers to support our team of environmental professionals performing work in vegetation management and ecological restoration. This is an on-call position; hours are not guaranteed and work will be offered as needed. This is a temporary role, with the length of assignments dependent on project needs. The hourly rate is $32/hour.  This wage may increase for work on prevailing wage contracts.

Ideal candidates will have

  • A willingness to perform manual labor in outdoor conditions

  • Basic familiarity with local plants

  • Reliability and flexibility with scheduling

Job Duties

The Environmental Technician will provide our government, utility, commercial and not-for-profit clients with the services and solutions needed to efficiently and effectively manage natural resources, comply with policies and obtain regulatory permits. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform vegetation management and ecological restoration work including brush cutting, mowing, pruning, and material movement
  • Follow basic directions and learn new tasks
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for working with necessary tools on uneven ground and in various weather conditions
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members
  • Maintain punctual and consistent attendance

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:  

An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Submit a brief resume which supports your ability to perform the job duties effectively. A cover letter is not required.

  • Experience with natural resource consulting, landscaping, general labor, vegetation management, and ecological restoration is preferred.
  • Able to perform actions including safely lift 30lbs, navigate topography, install plantings, carry and safely operate herbicide application equipment across range of terrains and weather conditions
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record are required.  Must be able to self-transport to sites in NY and surrounding states with federal mileage reimbursement.
  • Sturdy, over-the-ankle footwear & long pants and shirt required.
  • Potential hires will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen (NOT testing for THC).
