Position Overview
At LandStudies, a Davey company, we’re leading the way in environmental restoration. We’re not your typical landscaping company; we transform landscapes into thriving ecosystems. Since 1989, our work has directly contributed to sustainable water resources and natural habitat restoration in our community.
We're looking for a full-time, seasonal technician to join our Maintenance team!
Why Work at LandStudies?
- Make a Real Impact: Join a team that’s doing work in environmental conservation that matters.
- Competitive Pay: Earn $16.50 to $22.00 per hour, with the opportunity for overtime at time-and-a-half.
- Average Annual Earnings: Depending on workload, project funding, and hours worked, you can expect to earn between $34,000 and $50,000 annually.
- Benefits: Health benefits, paid time off, and eligibility for 401k after one year of employment.
- Growth Opportunities: We believe in continuous learning and development, offering ongoing training to help you build your skills and advance in your career.
- Team Culture: Be part of a supportive, mission-driven team that’s passionate about making a difference.
What You'll Do
- Natural Area Maintenance: Utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM); including herbicide application, mowing, and other techniques in floodplain, meadows, storm water basins, and other landscapes, to manage invasive plants.
- Equipment Operation: Operate equipment such as backpack sprayers, trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws. Occasional operation of heavier equipment such as RTVs and compact tractors may be applicable.
- Landscaping Duties: Hand weeding, mulching, and aesthetic pruning when required. Assist in installation and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and perennial plants.
- Monitoring: Occasionally assist in conducting site assessments, including vegetation surveys and stormwater facility monitoring.
What You'll Bring
- Passion for the Environment: You care deeply about sustainability and have a desire to protect and conserve habitat.
- Educational Background: While a high school diploma or equivalent is required, we prefer candidates with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in landscaping, horticulture, environmental science, or a related field. 2-5 years of experience or training, or a combination of both, would be a great fit.
- Experience and Skills: You’re familiar with horticulture and natural sciences, and you know your plants by name! You have strong math and interpretive skills to read and implement designs accurately. Proficiency with equipment operation is essential, and we value your enthusiasm to keep learning.
- Physical Stamina: You’re comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather and can regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Team Spirit: You thrive in a collaborative environment and can communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues and clients alike.
- Required Certifications: A valid driver’s license is essential (experience pulling a trailer is a plus). A Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator or Technician Certification is required.
- Must be 18 years or older.
