Position Overview

Position: Full-time (Part-time considered), Seasonal

Expected Annual Earnings: $38,000 – $52,000 (depending on hours/workload)

You know how to install and maintain a landscape—but are you ready to build something designed to last? Since 1989, LandStudies, a Davey company, has been expanding what landscaping can be by creating and restoring thriving, self-sustaining ecosystems, floodplains, and wetlands.

If you have solid landscaping experience and are ready to grow into more specialized, purpose-driven project work, this is where you belong.

Why Bring Your Experience to LandStudies?

  • Premium Pay & Overtime: Earn a competitive hourly wage with dependable time-and-a-half overtime.
  • Solid Benefits: Health benefits, Paid Time Off (PTO), and 401(k) eligibility after one year.
  • Level Up Your Skills: We invest in your professional growth. You’ll get ongoing, specialized training in ecology and advanced land management to make you a highly sought-after specialist.
  • Better Work Environment: Move into a more rewarding pace of work with a supportive, mission-driven team.

What You'll Do

We need your hands-on field expertise to help manage and maintain large-scale restoration projects:

  • Advanced Weed & Vegetation Control: Utilize your knowledge of weed management and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to control invasive species in meadows, floodplains, and stormwater basins via targeted herbicide application and mowing.
  • Equipment Operation: Put your skills to use operating backpack sprayers, trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws. You will also occasionally operate heavier equipment like RTVs and compact tractors.
  • Fine Gardening & Installation: Use your eye for detail for hand weeding, mulching, aesthetic pruning, and planting trees, shrubs, and perennials.
  • Site Monitoring: Assist with site assessments, vegetation surveys, and checking on stormwater facilities to ensure our installs are thriving.

Who We're Looking For

This isn't an entry-level gig; we need someone who already knows their way around a job site and a trailer.

  • The Landscaping Foundation: 2–5 years of hands-on experience in landscaping, horticulture, or grounds maintenance. (An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in horticulture/landscaping is a huge plus, but we value field experience!)
  • Plant Knowledge: You know your plants by name and understand basic horticulture. You can read a site plan/design and execute it accurately.
  • The Right Credentials: A valid driver’s license is required (experience pulling a trailer is a major plus). A Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator or Technician Certification is required.
  • Physical Stamina: You’re used to the grind. You are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and can regularly lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Professionalism: You take pride in your work, show up on time, and communicate effectively with the crew and clients.
  • Age: Must be 18 years or older.
