Position Overview

Wetland Studies and Solutions Inc., a Davey company, is seeking a full-time environmental compliance technician to join our Millersville, Maryland team. Projects include providing environmental compliance and stormwater management support services associated with construction of data centers, residential developments, commercial properties, utility, and transportation development.

Job Duties

•   NPDES environmental compliance, stormwater management, and county stormwater facility inspections and reporting
•   Monitoring and testing water discharge from active construction in Tier II or sediment impaired river / stream watersheds
•   Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development and auditing
•   Coordinating with federal and state resource agencies with regard to wetlands, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater compliance
•   Best Management Practices (BMP) construction monitoring
•   MS4 inspections, including but not limited to outfalls and other permit requirements

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•   Associates or Bachelors degree in Environmental Studies or related field (experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
•   Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines under limited supervision
•   Ability to work independently and with a team
•   Outstanding communication skills
•   Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors
•   Willingness to regularly travel regionally and occasionally out-of-state
•   Valid driver license with clear driving record
•   Basic familiarity with G suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and creating / editing PDFs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•   At least one year of experience performing environmental compliance in relation to National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) inspections and reporting and/or
•   At least one year of experience installing or maintaining stormwater management facilities (Detention / Retention ponds, bioswales, rain gardens, underground sand filters, etc) and/or
•   At least one year of experience installing or maintaining stormwater BMPs (all varieties of silt fence, check dams, stabilization, construction entrances, etc.)
•   Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Responsible Personnel Certification (formerly “green card”)
•   Maryland State Highway Administration Erosion and Sediment Control Certification (“yellow card”)
•   CESSWI and/or CPESC certification
•   Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (level 1 or level 2) certification
