Position Overview

The Engineering Project Coordinator works under the direction of an Engineering Project Supervisor or Manager to support clients with project execution. This includes allocating and managing resources to implement design and technical specifications necessary to meet regulatory and client requirements. This is an entry-level leadership role and individuals are expected to have a high degree of leadership potential and technical competence.

Job Duties

  • Supervise and monitor the productivity, performance, and quality of work completed by a team of 14–18 field staff, ensuring all work meets company standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate and assist with scheduling to ensure efficient personnel allocation, timely project completion, and optimal resource utilization.
  • Review, verify, and approve employee timesheets for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and payroll requirements.
  • Conduct field observations, site visits, and performance evaluations to assess work quality, provide feedback, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Travel as needed to project sites to meet with field personnel, provide guidance, address operational challenges, and support project execution.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new and existing field staff, ensuring employees have the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to perform their duties effectively.
  • Coordinate the distribution, delivery, and tracking of equipment, tools, and materials to field staff, ensuring proper availability and accountability.
  • Serve as a liaison between field personnel and management, communicating project updates, expectations, and operational needs to support successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

● Required: High school diploma with a minimum of 1 year of electric utility or telecommunications industry experience. 

● Required: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, influence, and direct team members. Exhibits a growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning. 

● Required: Obtain and maintain professional certificates and licenses commensurate with project requirements. 

Required: Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, anticipate consequences, and implement resources. 

Required: Electric hazard identification, electric equipment identification, and communication equipment identification capability. 

● Required: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, and data entry. 

● Required: Strong communication skills including written and verbal. Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Draft intelligible, professional, and accurate correspondence in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

● Required: Perform complex arithmetic computations. 

● Required: Apply understanding to carry out detailed instructions. Identify, address, and resolve problems in varied situations. 

● Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field from an accredited college or university. 

● Preferred: 2-3 years prior electric utility or telecommunications industry experience.

● Preferred: OSHA 1910.269/1910.268 qualified training is preferred but will be provided as required by the project (including, but not limited to, use and testing of rubber insulating gloves, electric meter change out, use of insulated measuring sticks, open enclosure methodology, and use of phasing tools). 

Preferred: CAD/Outside Plant Engineering design software knowledge, pole loading analysis software knowledge.

 

Physical Requirements:

● Carry and lift equipment up to 15 pounds in an office environment. 

● Sit at a desk for long periods of time. 

● Observe and judge the distance and size of objects. 

● Walk and carry equipment weighing up to 20 pounds for distances up to 5 miles per day. ● Bend, reach, hold and grasp. 

● Move objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.

● Write, type, file, and organize documents and information.
