Position Overview

The Business Developer is responsible for developing new business and sales opportunities, enhancing customer relationships, and ensuring a seamless collaboration between various Davey Tree service lines with a focus on defined markets for Commercial Landscape Services and Residential and Commercial Tree Care growth, as well as cultivating business prospects for all other applicable Davey service lines.

This is a remote position, involves traveling. Person must reside in Maryland or DC area.

Compensation depending on experience $110-$125K 

Job Duties

Job Duties

  • Develop and cultivate new business and sales opportunities tailored to clients' needs for solutions on their properties in defined markets for Commercial Landscape Services, Residential and Commercial Tree Care, and all other applicable Davey service lines.
  • Work closely with Operations to retain business and future client opportunities through exceptional customer service and communication for the client and Davey teams.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Landscape Services, Residential and Commercial Tree Care, Davey Resource Group, Utility and other Davey service lines to coordinate operational support and sales assistance required for new business and sales opportunities.
  • Adhere to the operational approval flowchart for development opportunities and enlist the appropriate support as necessary.
  • Coordinate with the represented service line to proactively address and resolve customer complaints related to sales and service, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. 
  • Continuously monitor customer preferences and industry trends to determine the focus on sales efforts and adapt accordingly, based on the team's strategies and insights gained. 
  • Maintain accurate reporting, record keeping, and data management within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data system to track and analyze sales and customer interactions as well as internal team reporting, Qlik Sense, and other platforms for data verification and accurate history.
  • Communicate with the appropriate managers and sales teams about sales generated and sold and provide timely follow-up communication.
  • Participate in weekly sales calls to align strategies and maintain a cohesive team effort.
  • Report timely and accurately to supervisor and teammates.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and work rules.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to complete required training.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to acquire applicator licenses as necessary per state requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and other computer or software programs necessary to complete job duties.

Preferred: 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in landscape, arboriculture, horticulture, or related field. 
  • Sales or operational experience in the field of landscape, arboriculture, horticulture, or related field. 
  • ISA Certified Arborist or Landscape Professional Certification or the ability to obtain credentials within a specified timeframe.
