Position Overview
Our Nashville environmental consulting team is looking to add a dynamic and self-motivated Project Manager to perform and manage urban forestry and inventory projects in the Tennessee market.
The ISA Certified Arborist credential and Tree Risk Assessment Qualification are requirements for the position.
Job Duties
The Project Manager will provide our government, private, and not-for-profit clients with the services and solutions needed to manage trees and urban forests efficiently and effectively through field inventories, risk assessments, data collection, data analysis, and report writing. In addition, the position requires the ability to effectively communicate with clients and manage projects throughout the project delivery process and completion of project deliverables. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
• Identify and measure local tree species, understand their typical growth rates, and recognize indicators of common diseases and pest infestations;
• Prescribe appropriate tree work needed to mitigate risk;
• Meet with clients and be able to effectively communicate project status and findings (both orally and in writing);
• Manage field crews;
• Develop project budgets and perform regular evaluations of project performance relative to budget and project goals;
• Represent the company and the client at professional meetings;
• Support DRG regional offices with urban forestry services.
The successful candidate will have the ability to market and sell urban forestry (UF) services and possess the ability to help build and lead a UF team in Tennessee.
Qualifications
An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Previous experience successfully working as an Inventory Arborist or equivalent experience in the industry will be required.
• Project management experience is preferred.
• Two- to four-year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Arboriculture, Environmental Science, Plant Biology or related discipline or equivalent experience in similar position is required.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) are highly desirable.
• Current Driver’s License and Driving Record in good standing is required.
• Urban forestry experience is required.
• Proficient working knowledge of computers (including Word, Excel, and GIS) is required.
