Position Overview

We are currently looking to add a dynamic Environmental Technician to our passionate team of environmental professionals. The hourly rate starts at $30/hour with the opportunity for an increased rate based on experience. This wage may increase for work on prevailing wage contracts.

Job Duties

This is a field-based position requiring travel throughout the Northeast, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Employees will be provided with a company vehicle and will report directly from home to assigned job sites.

 

The position involves both collaborative, team-based work and independent responsibilities in the field. The majority of work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain. Duties may require operating and transporting equipment such as spray rigs, backpack sprayers, augers, chainsaws, and mowers.

 

Candidates must be comfortable working in physically demanding environments while maintaining a high standard of safety, professionalism, and accountability.

 

The Environmental Technician will provide our government, utility, commercial and not-for-profit clients with the services and solutions needed to efficiently and effectively manage natural resources, comply with policies and obtain regulatory permits. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand the contract needs and specifications of clients and their customers and develop appropriate solutions.

  • Identify local species, understand their typical characteristics and recognize common diseases and pests.

  • Perform and lead vegetation management and ecological restoration work including tree planting, tree watering, brush cutting, mowing, pruning, chemical application, and material movement.

  • Follow basic directions and learn new tasks.

  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for working with necessary tools on uneven ground and in various weather conditions.

  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members.

  • Maintain punctual and consistent attendance.

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:  

An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily.  The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Two to four year degree in Biology, Botany, Ecology, Forestry, Horticulture, Hydrology, Soil Science, Zoology or related discipline or equivalent experience in a similar position.

  • Driver’s license and clean driving record are required. 

  • Experience with natural resource consulting, landscaping, general labor, vegetation management, and ecological restoration is preferred.

  • Able to perform actions including safely lift 30lbs, navigate topography, install plantings, carry and safely operate herbicide application equipment across range of terrains and weather conditions.

  • Natural resource consulting experience preferred.

  • Sturdy, over-the-ankle footwear & long pants and shirt required.

  • Potential hires will be required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen (NOT testing for THC).
