Position Overview

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a safety-focused, dependable Long Haul CDL Driver to support the transportation of materials, equipment, and vehicles throughout the United States.

The successful candidate will operate a company-owned tractor-trailer to safely transport freight between warehouses, vendors, job sites, and other designated destinations. Assignments will vary in length and destination, requiring travel across the continental United States on an as-needed basis. Drivers should be comfortable with overnight travel, changing schedules, and working independently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Job Duties

  • Safely operate a Class A commercial tractor-trailer in accordance with all DOT and FMCSA regulations.

  • Transport materials, equipment, and vehicles nationwide.

  • Load and unload freight safely by forklift.

  • Secure loads in accordance with federal regulations and company standards.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Perform required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete all required documentation.

  • Maintain FMCSA-compliant driver logs and shipping documents.

  • Coordinate delivery schedules with dispatch and internal operations teams.

  • Ensure freight is delivered safely, on time, and in expected condition. Report equipment issues, accidents, or delays promptly.

  • Maintain cleanliness and general care of assigned tractor and trailer.

  • Represent Davey professionally while interacting with customers, vendors, and employees.

Schedule Overview

  • This position is open to Part-Time and Full-Time applicants.
  • Weekly hours vary depending on transportation needs.
  • Overnight and multi-day trips are expected.
  • Flexible scheduling based on business demand.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Preferred - 3 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience Experience operating combination vehicles with loads up to legal highway weight limits.
  • Ability to travel throughout the United States, including overnight and multi-day trips.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and ELD systems.
  • Forklift experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and conduct freight securement and loading activities.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safe driving practices and excellent customer service.
