Position Overview
We are currently looking to add a dynamic UVM Senior Specialist to our passionate team of environmental professionals.
Job Duties
Inspect distribution utility right-of-ways and access to Right-of-Way (ROW) areas, for compliance with state clearance standards. Identify needed tree and brush control work and provide information to line-clearance crews. Document work using hand-held computer. Notify property owners of pending work on their property. Audit work completed by contractors. Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues. Special projects as assigned. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and storms as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Qualifications:
An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Previous experience successfully working as a Utility Vegetation Management Specialist or equivalent experience in the industry will be required.
- Proficiency with local Tree Identification and Tree Physiology.
- ISA Certified Arborist.
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License.
- Current Driver’s License and Driving Record in good standing.
- Proficient working knowledge of computers. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint.

The Davey Resource Group (DRG) is currently hiring certified arborists, professional foresters, horticulturalists, natural resource specialists, environmental scientists, GIS technicians, and plant and outdoor enthusiasts to join our workforce.
SENIOR CONSULTING UTILITY FORESTER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise herbicide applicators and customer liaison specialists for vegetation removal and herbicide treatment activities for utility Rights of Way (ROW) and access roads

Utilize Davey’s ROWKeeper software for work management and quality assurance
-
Train and manage applicators to state and federal pesticide standards
-
Adhere to all federal, state and safety best management practices for vegetation management adjacent to energized facilities

Transport, mix and apply herbicide mix(es) in accordance to each product's label
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
One year of experience working around high voltage electrical utility power systems
-
One year of experience in herbicide applications or weed control and vegetation removal
-
Organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail
-
Knowledge of safety requirements regarding herbicide application/vegetation removal practices around substations, communication sites, utility Right of Way and near high voltage equipment

Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding chemical applications
-
Knowledge of applicable OSHA vegetation safety standards, FAC-003 requirements, FERC/NERC Standards and requirements as they relate to the transmission utility industry.

Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather
-
Self-driven desire to improve processes and procedures for client and company goals.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads

Current pesticide applicator's license issued by the State of California or ability to acquire applicators license within three months.
