Position Overview
POSITION: Environmental Scientist/Specialist
TYPE: Full-time

WAGE: $30-$40 per Hour

We provide a wide range of natural resource, utility, GIS and remote sensing consulting services. Our job is to help our clients provide a safe and reliable power source through proper vegetation management practices.

Job Duties
-
Work with major electric/gas utility system and address its vegetation management needs

Communicate and schedule work plans with client daily
-
Be a direct liaison between Client and contracted services
-
Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work site
-
Inspect generation facilities and identify vegetation incompatible with company policy or state and federal regulations
-
Collect and enter data on handheld devices, follow maps and use GPS navigation
-
Communicate with landowners regarding work on or near their property
-
Assess all terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions
-
Coordinate with project managers, planners, and vegetation crews
-
Manage workloads and work schedules to meet required deadlines
Qualifications
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Embraces an outdoor and independent work environment

Experience working in and around substations and other power generating facilities

Thrives on adaptation, continual learning and training and is detail oriented

Possess knowledge of local tree species and species specific growth rates

Familiarity with herbicide application
-
Has ability to work and drive in various settings from city to remote terrain

Is a great communicator and team player with a professional demeanor
-
Previous tree crew experience
-
ISA Certified Arborist
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Two or four year degree in horticulture, forestry, urban forestry, environmental science or a related discipline
-
Clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle on rough roads
-
More than 1 year of utility vegetation management experience or similar experience in a related field (tree work industry, landscape professional)
