What You'll Do

As a Vegetation Management professional, you will play a key role in maintaining safe and reliable utility infrastructure while protecting natural resources.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting vegetation inspections and assessments along electric utility transmission rights-of-way
  • Identifying tree and brush management needs and developing or recommending appropriate treatment plans
  • Using GIS mapping, GPS, and mobile technology to collect, document, and maintain accurate field data
  • Evaluating terrain, habitat, environmental conditions, and vegetation hazards within project areas
  • Operating an ATV to safely and efficiently access remote or difficult-to-reach transmission corridors
  • Extensive travel required throughout the assigned territory to conduct inspections and support project needs
  • Communicating with project managers, planners, utility representatives, landowners, and field crews
  • Providing direction, leadership, and field support to team members as needed
  • Helping coordinate vegetation management activities and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications
  • Identifying potential issues in the field and taking initiative to resolve or escalate them appropriately
  • Supporting utility compliance, reliability, and public safety objectives

What We're Looking For

We’re seeking an experienced vegetation management professional who is confident working independently and has the knowledge and leadership skills necessary to manage field responsibilities.


Required Qualifications:

  • Previous transmission utility vegetation management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage field assignments with minimal supervision
  • Experience operating an ATV in field environments
  • Strong knowledge of tree identification, pruning practices, vegetation management, and utility rights-of-way
  • Ability to read and interpret GIS maps and spatial data
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, make sound field decisions, and effectively manage competing responsibilities
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience providing direction, guidance, or mentorship to others
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle and travel extensively throughout the service area
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions
  • Comfortable using tablets, GPS / GIS applications, and other mobile technology

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ISA Certified Arborist®
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field
